Bring Back Direct Client Texting for Stylists Without Inbox Access
Hi! I wanted to submit a request regarding the recent messaging update.
Before the update, stylists and assistants could go directly into a client’s profile and click the messaging icon to text that client from their personal phone. This allowed them to communicate with their own clients without having access to the salon’s general front desk messaging inbox.
With the new update, that messaging icon is gone and there is now only a call option. The only way for staff to send messages through the Professional App is to give them Messages: View & Send access, which also gives them access to the entire salon messaging inbox.
This is a problem for us because we want our stylists to be able to communicate directly with their clients, but we do not want them to have access to private conversations between the front desk and other clients.
It would be extremely helpful to have a permission setting that allows stylists/assistants to:
Text clients directly from the client profile
Communicate with their own clients from their phone
Send texts without giving them access to the general Messages inbox
Keep the front desk’s client conversations private
The previous setup worked really well for our salon, and the removal of this option has resulted in several complaints from our stylists.
Is it possible to bring this functionality back or create a separate permission specifically for direct client texting without full inbox access?

While I don't have a need for this feature, I am 100% behind anything that asks for more flexibility so the program can support multiple use cases! We all work a little differently and don't fit neatly into the same boxes!
