Text pricing needs a revisit
All of the SMS additions that are finally coming out have been very much anticipated and I’m happy to see them, however with every one of these “new features” comes a hefty price tag to use them.
If we want to use the text receipts and now the new text for review feature we’ll officially be spending more on texts than we are on BLVD itself. It’s costing us $200 a month just to have confirmations and reminders sent out. For the price point of BLVD to only receive 250 "Free" texts is a bit restrictive in 2024. Every other platform includes SMS at no additional cost or starts out at least 5000 messages. I think a revisit to the pricing is necessary or offer an unlimited package but $200+ for sms is not ok.

I’m writing to request a change to how message charges are applied in the system. Right now, we’re being charged (or messages are counted against our allotment) for essential, system-generated communications—like appointment confirmations and reminders—as well as for ongoing two-way communication with clients.
Our clients frequently text us to let us know they’re running late, need to reschedule, or have questions about their appointment. These are necessary conversations that help us manage our calendar, reduce no-shows, and maintain a high standard of customer service.
We strongly believe that these operational messages—whether automated or part of regular scheduling conversations—should not count toward our messaging limit or incur extra charges. This isn’t marketing; it’s basic business functionality.
We’d love to see a system update that excludes appointment-related messages (both automated and manual) from billing, or at least categorizes them separately from promotional or non-essential messages.

We were not told there was a limit when we signed up, we found out halfway through launch day. I wholeheartedly agree with this! Texting was one of the main reasons we switched!

I agree! I have been looking into other booking systems and all the SMS are free. We already pay a premium for BLVD. Sms should be included.

SMS shouldn't even be a fee. Boulevard is great, but its already more expensive than some other great softwares and they don't even charge for sms or charge very little.

What’s the status? Boulevard is too expensive for the text blast, so we use RingCentral SMS Blast and we were previously using Textel Blast as well. Way more affordable especially in this current economic climate.

Agree with the other user, my previous software was half the price of boulevard and free sms. I’m contemplating going back too

If Boulevard wants to remain competitive, this pricing structure needs to be revisited. I would strongly suggest one of the following:
Increase the base SMS allowance substantially
Offer an affordable unlimited SMS package
Or at the very least, adjust tiered pricing to reflect real-world salon usage
I want to keep growing with Boulevard—but if SMS is going to cost more than the platform itself, that’s a serious red flag for small business owners like myself.
Thanks for considering this feedback.

Yes, businesses NEED access to utilizing this feature and the add on cost is INSANE! We understand BLVD is a business too, but this is like offering a key necessity as a new feature and then handicapping us to utilize it.

I have never been charged for texting like this. Paying more to upgrade to a plan that includes texting sure. The way it's being done is horrible considering how expensive this is and still doesn't serve the needs of my office

How are you guys able to see how much you are being charged for SMS per month? I had no idea I have been robbed of money from boulevard in this way. I am now very annoyed.

Yes 100% we are going to have to integrate with another tech provider with Boulevard so we can do texts off of boulevard if this continues to be at this rate

Absolutely agree and we are not using SMS for this reason!

Agreed, this is a ridiculous charge! I've contemplated leaving just because of the text messaging.

The pricing on the texting is ridiculous. We only have it enabled at our 1 commission salon because it's too much. We apparently are also getting charged for every time the stylists get a text, which I think shouldn't be done. We won't enable this at our other 3 locations until the pricing comes down. Everyone prefers texts these days, and we can't afford to pay more for texts than we do for Boulevard itself. I have another Manager friend who is sometimes paying $1700+ per month for EACH of her 2 locations because of the text charges.

agree, some of the features should come standard with a text option at no additional cost. this was one of my main concerns with signing up for boulevard and is a reason I have heard other have canceled boulevard

We will not be enabling a text receipt option for this exact reason. Email receipts or nothing! It’s unfortunate because clients ask for a text option but we can’t afford to overuse this feature!
